Etymology of DENEL
The word "Denel" is an acronym derived from the name of the South African defense technology company, Denel SOC Ltd. It stands for "Detonics, Aerospace, and Ammunition, Electronic, and Land Systems". The company was established in 1992 as a conglomerate of South African defense-related companies and was originally named Armscor (Armaments Corporation of South Africa).
